Physiotherapy
Our physiotherapists are trained to complete movement assessment,
diagnose the root cause of your pain, provide hands-on treatment and
prescribe appropriate exercises to restore overall function. We offer one-on-one physiotherapy sessions to ensure treatments are individualized to your goals and current stage of recovery.
Kinesiology
Our kinesiologists take on a holistic approach to provide personalized exercise programs based on your current function. We believe that strength and conditioning is critical to making a successful return to work or return to sport. We also provide active rehab sessions to assist our ICBC clients in their recoveries.
Registered Massage Therapy
Our registered massage therapists use soft tissue manual manipulation to restore health and wellbeing. We are trained to use different types of massage techniques to reduce pain, promote healing, improve circulation and achieve overall wellness. Massage therapy could also be used for preventative and maintenance purposes.
Acupuncture / IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation)
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical technique consists of the insertion of one or several small needles into the skin and underlying tissue at precise points on the body known as acupoints. The goal of acupuncture is to relieve pain, balance the body’s energy and promote healing.
Instramuscular Stimulation or IMS is a form of needling technique used as a remedy for chronic muscle pain and tension that results from muscles held in a constant tight/shortened state. During an IMS treatment, our physiotherapists can insert small dry needles into the affected tight muscle and manipulate the needles as needed. A twitch response is to be expected. The purpose of the twitch is to normalize the stretch reflex and reset the ideal length-tension in the muscle.
Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy is a new non-invasive solution for chronic musculoskeletal pain. Applications are mostly associated with the treatment of chronic muscular and tendon disorders, back and cervical pain. During the therapy, a high intensity acoustic wave interacts with the tissues of the body. This leads to a cascade of beneficial effects including neovascularization, reversal of chronic inflammation, stimulation of collagen production and dissolution of calcium build-up. Stimulation of these biological mechanisms creates an optional healing environment. As the injured area is returned to normal, functionality is restored and pain is relieved.
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
Pelvic floor physiotherapy involves treatment for issues related to your pelvic floor. This can include concerns related to the function of your bladder and bowel, sexual health, and pain around the pelvis. During a pelvic floor assessment we take the time to understand your experiences, which includes a comprehensive discussion related to your history and symptoms. Following this, we conduct a whole body assessment in order to find the root cause. If you are comfortable, and it is deemed appropriate by the physiotherapist, the assessment may include an internal vaginal and/or rectal exam.
Some of the general conditions we can help treat include:
Constipation
Urinary Incontinence
Pelvic Organ Prolapse
Pre and Post-natal Care
Diastasis Recti Abdominis
